I soldered wires to the three pins on the USB plug first and then soldered the 3 different sets of wires to the leads. Solder the bare wires together. The white wires are not used. If that works, then there may be a problem with the Uniden BC-UTGC cable. If you type a lower-case ASCII charactor from a limited set (dhlmoqrwz), several lines of formatted ASCII numbers are sent from the scanner. They do provide power TO the SDS100 but require 12VDC power to the GPS.
